The present alphabetical Index leads to

  1. all genera of Gesneriaceae currently in use,
  2. all genera synonymised since 2004 (treatment of the Gesneriaceae in the "Families and Genera of Vascular Plants", vol. VII, ed. K. Kubitzki & J. Kadereit, by Weber, 2004) - name in square brackets, e.g. [Acanthonema],
  3. a selection of genera, the circumscription of which has experienced a drastic change since 2004 - name + "trad. sense" in square brackets, e.g. [Deinostigma - trad. sense], and
  4. all genera the inclusion of which in Gesneriaceae was considered as doubtful or that have been tentatively excluded by Weber (2004) - names in double square brackets, e.g. [[Charadrophila]].
